The real reason that @YogaAlliance
didn’t donate money to NY or VA
The real reason that Yoga Alliance didn’t donate money to the Yoga for New York Association or the Virginia Yoga Teachers Association, is because they just didn’t expect NY or VA yoga teachers to succeed!
During the NY and VA state attempt’s to tax Yoga teachers and Studios, Yoga Alliance was asked by both Alison West and Susan Van Nuys to help them pay for the defense – so the yoga teachers could win against the State Governments….
What’s the Truth???
Yoga Alliance didn’t want them to win, because if they didn’t win, then they would own the ONLY mandatory state accredited yoga credentialing for every single yoga studio would have to use. Yoga Alliance was busy paying $336,325.00 to two different Web companies to fix their horrifically bad reputation, because they are misguided.
And when I say they are misguided, I specifically am referring to the core group of board members of Yoga Alliance (Lynn Bushnell, Gyandev McCord, Virginia S. Cowen, Arun Tilak) and the 2004 contract employee John Matthews.
They all signed Non-disclosure agreements that (they think) legally protects Yoga Alliance from telling people the truth about their ineffectual credentialing. But it doesn’t, those documents haven’t stopped people within that organization from coming forward to tell me that, “Everything I write is the truth,” or “I am on the right track.”
I know it’s the truth, from the people I have spoken to, from the relationships in yoga I have cultivated and emails I get on a daily basis and I have fully accepted the responsibility that goes along with that.
Every yoga teacher who joins Yoga Alliance‘s “new” venture for YA Plus, understand that you are agreeing to join the organization that gambled against US Yoga, against US Yoga Teachers – because they were consumed by their own appetite for greed and wanted to be crowned the mandatory state controlled monopoly on yoga credentialing.
Before you align yourselves with Yoga Alliance, realize that the big reason YA changed their tune a whopping 180 degrees after Virginia and New York had successfully won there legislative fights is specifically Yoga Alliance knew that they had been caught. Yoga Alliance knew that their credentialing was not legally binding, and for all intensive purposes worthless; they knew that it served no real legitimate purpose for yoga teachers to buy it, (even though they had been buying it for 15 years) and that in order to survive they had to start doing what they should have been doing from the beginning.
Yoga Alliance had rolled the hard six and lost their gamble, and they would not have survived unless they changed they mission completely.
So now they have changed, why should we not be satisfied?
Because there are still bad blood residing in Yoga Alliance, there is still corrupt people within the board.
The only way for Yoga Alliance to make their entity right, the only way any of us should be happy, is for ALL of the board members agree to complete transparency and everyone of the board members, including John Matthews, steps down and resigns for their part in the last 15 years of the Yoga Alliance farce.
If you think I am negative, then so be it. You won’t be first and you won’t be the last. I have followed their evasive and dishonest tactics for over two and a half years now.
The days of hearing Yoga Alliance rumors and clam baked rhetoric are over. This is about speaking the truth, not a subjective truth but the truth because all the facts point towards the truth, and the truths say’s they knew all the yoga regulation facts and did nothing.
An omission of the truth is worse than a non-disclosure agreement, because every single person at Yoga Alliance was involved and could have done something about NY and Virginia but chose to wait and see how it all turned out.
This is more about intention than anything, and why more people refuse to see that is truly unfortunate.
The actions Yoga Alliance takes today – the secrets, the lies, the inauthentic intentions – they all will have a lasting affect on the imminent future of yoga tomorrow.
